THE CORROSION REMEDY PROVIDER

CORREM CORPORATION

What is VCI?

VCI stands for Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (or Vapour Corrosion Inhibitor). It works by emitting VCI molecules into an enclosure which then reacts with the water molecules within that enclosure. This chemical reaction causes the VCI molecules to hydrolyzed into VCI ions. These ions, having both positive and negative charges, attach themselves to all metallic surfaces forming a molecular barrier of VCI over the metal surfaces, therefore, protecting the surfaces from corrosion.

CorRem’s VCI Corrosion Remedy products have been developed to provide the highest level of corrosion protection for multi-metals and equipment while they are in transit or placed in long-term storage.

Our VCI products provide continual corrosion protection for up to three years even when exposed to harsh environmental conditions.

What are the Advantages of VCI?

  • It provides corrosion protection for multi-metals.
  • There is no need for VCI to be in direct contact with the metal surface in order for it to work.
  • With VCI, there is no requirement for contact rust preventative to be applied on the metal surface such as grease, oil, wax, etc.
  • VCI is self-healing.
  • VCI always moves from a high potential to a low potential area. This allows the VCI to protect the metal surface in difficult to reach areas like tiny voids and recessed areas.
  • It provides corrosion protection on metal for up to three years.
  • It is cost effective.
  • It is easy to apply.

Who Uses VCI Packaging Film?

VCI packaging films are widely used by metalworking industries to keep metal parts from corrosion. For example, the automotive industry is a major buyer of VCI bags and films, using them to package their auto-parts and keep them from corrosion during storage or while they are in transit. Similarly, the export packaging companies, as well as the oil and gas industry use VCI film and UV-VCI packaging film to protect their equipment and spare-parts from corrosion and especially while their assets are being placed in short and long term preservation mode.

Other major buyers of VCI products are bearings manufacturers, lawn equipment manufacturers, steel industry as well as the military.

What are the Final VCI Film Product Selling Points to the End-User?

  • It eliminates the need for oil and greasy mess on metal parts which are often detrimental to the environment.
  • It increases productivity for OEM manufacturers, thus bringing down its production cost per part.
  • It provides peace of mind to know that your metal parts will arrive at the customer’s final destination in OEM condition.
  • It is cost effective and easy to apply.
  •  It provides continuous corrosion protection on metal parts for up to three years.
  • CorRem VCI Masterbatch is engineered for Multi-metals corrosion protection.
